The TI-82 is a graphing calculator manufactured by Texas Instruments between 1993 and 2005 as a successor for the TI-81. The TI-82 features many improvements from its predecessor which it gains from the TI-85, including the addition of a link port for transferring data, variables, and programs between calculators and PCs, an upgraded 6 megahertz Zilog Z80 processor and 28 kilobytes of memory for the user to store programs in. It shares the 96 by 64 pixel display with the 81 as well as expanding on its feature set.
The TI-82 has had three different designs over its lifetime. The original design is incredibly similar to the TI-81, sharing the slanted screen, square buttons and simplistic casing while having a thicker font on the buttons. The first redesign made the TI-82 look like the original TI-83 with rounded square buttons and a non-angled screen. The final redesign, nicknamed "Parcus", removes the glossy screen bezel gained in the first redesign and gives the TI-82 a more industrial look while still looking unique.
I own a single example of this calculator which is in working condition with the slide case.
This calculator is in good condition and works well. It was manufactured in June 2005, the latest known datecode known for this calculator, and it is a Parcus model. It runs ROM 19.006 and I obtained it December 1st, 2023. The buttons on this model are very solid and satisfying to press, and the screen is bright and easy to read. I'm not particularly a fan of how TI made the battery door cover on the Parcus models work but I do like the Parcus. This calculator came with the TI-82 guidebook which was a nice touch.
