The fx-9750GII is a graphing calculator released in 2009 by Casio. It is a lower end version of the fx-9860GII and as a result omits the backlit screen, SD card support, eActivity and Spreadsheet softwares, and the natural textbook display feature. The fx-9750GII also cannot run add-ins made with the Casio SDK out of the box. The fx-9750GII had a refresh in 2011 which upgrades the CPU from a Hitachi SuperH3 to a SuperH4a processor, which bumped performance up. The calculator was supported until the release of the GIII series in 2020.
The fx-9750GII's hardware is similar enough to the fx-9860GII that it is possible to flash the 9860GII's operating system firmware onto the fx-9750GII, essentially upgrading the fx-9750GII into the fx-9860GII. The only downsides to this is the potential for a brick if something goes wrong and some of the keys will not be perfectly matching with the higher model. The advantages are numerous but the addition of natural textbook input and output, which makes using the calculator much more comfortable in exams, and support for custom compiled add-ins with the Casio SDK (and fxsdk) makes the calculator much better for hobbyists.
I own a single example of this calculator which is in working condition with the slide case.
This calculator is in working condition. It is very comfortable to use and the plastics feel very high quality. It is the later SuperH 4a hardware refresh and has had the fx-9860GII upgrade applied to it. The buttons are quite nice to use but they do not have a lot of travel; if you have no point of reference for other calculators, they are very usable but if you have used another calculator like the TI-84 Plus, you will feel the difference quickly. By the manufacturing stamps in the plastic housing, I believe this calculator was manufactured May 2013. I obtained it July 19th, 2023.
